Seed Mixes
Skinner Native Seeds Pollinator Mix.
Developed through a collaboration with the Xerces Society, the mix contains a wealth of native forbs that will provide bloom all across the seasons. The mix consists of approximately 40 varieties of local native wildflowers, either grown locally or hand-collected locally, that attract and support pollinators. It will provide bloom from early spring to late fall, from prairie crocus to many-flowered aster. It includes 5 species of local native bunch grass for a variety of habitat for bumble bees and other beneficial insects. This mix is appropriate for habitat restoration throughout the mixed grass prairies of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as northern North Dakota and Montana.
Skinner Native Seeds Bunchgrass/ Prairie Clover Mix
This mix consists of 6 bunch grasses, Big bluestem, Little Bluestem, Green Needlegrass, June Grass, Blue Grama, and Nodding Brome, with the addition of Purple Prairie Clover. It’s a great grass mix on its own but also serves as a perfect basic mix to which one can add any variety of wild flowers. The bunchgrass will leave spaces in which the wildflowers can develop.
